Meghalaya Shiksha Samiti – Ekal Vidyalaya Initiative

Meghalaya Shiksha Samiti (MSS) is committed to providing quality education to the remotest and most underserved regions of Meghalaya. Through its Ekal Vidyalaya initiative, MSS has established single-teacher schools in villages where formal education infrastructure is limited or unavailable.

These Ekal Vidyalayas offer free education to tribal and rural children, nurturing not just literacy and numeracy skills, but also instilling Indian values, cultural understanding, and life skills.

Currently, MSS is running Ekal Vidyalayas in the following villages of West/South West Garo Hills, Meghalaya:

  • Dingar
  • Sulguri –B
  • Dakupara
  • Kalchengpara
  • Thongthongpara
  • Nonipara
  • Nayapara
  • Durapara
  • Sasatgre
  • Kalupara
  • Kalupara (2nd Unit)
  • Taripara
  • Borotaripara
  • Vijaynagar
  • Kasirpara
  • Baghpara
  • Belbari

These schools function with the support of local communities and dedicated teachers, ensuring that children in remote areas get the gift of education, self-reliance, and cultural pride.
Through this initiative, Meghalaya Shiksha Samiti continues to work toward inclusive, accessible, and value-based education in alignment with the spirit of Ekal Abhiyan.
